  • cranially: pars orbitalis o. frontalis (fovea trochlearis + spina trochlearis, incisura/foramen frontalis/supraorbitalis, fossa glandulae lacrimalis), ala minor o. sphenoidalis (fissura orbitalis sup.)
  • medially: processus frontalis maxillae (fossa sacci lacrimalis), os lacrimale, lamina orbitalis o. ethmoidalis (foramina ethmoidalia ant. et post.), ala minor o. sphenoidalis
  • laterally: facies orbitalis o. zygomatici (foramen zygomaticoorbitale), facies orbitalis alae majoris o. sphenoidalis
  • caudally: facies orbitalis o. zygomatici, facies orbitalis corporis maxillae (sulcus et canalis infraorbitalis, fissura orbitalis inf.), processus orbitalis o. palatini
  • entrance: Aditus orbitae

  • septum - pars ossea - lamina perpendicularis o. ethmoidalis, vomer
  • entrance: Apertura piriformis
  • exit: Choanae
  • conchae nasales (sup., media, inf.) divides the cavity in 5 spaces:

  • meatus nasi superior – recessus sphenoethmoidalis (malá concha nasalis suprema), apertura sisus sphenoidalis
  • meatus nasi medius – hiatus maxillaris (semilunaris) , infundibulum ethmoidale, ductus frontonasalis
  • meatus nasi inferior – apertura ductus nasolacrimalis
  • meatus nasi communis - (common parts without conchas close by the septum)
  • meatus nasopharyngeus - (common parts behind conchas)

    (Temporal fossa)
  • laterally: arcus zygomaticus /+fascia temporalis/
  • cranially: linea temporalis superior o. parietalis et frontalis
  • ventrally: facies temporalis o. zygomatici (foramen zygomaticotemporale)
  • caudally: crista infratemporalis alae majoris o. sphenoidalis
  • medially: facies temporalis alae majoris o. sphenoidalis, squama o. temporalis, facies externa ossis parietalis et frontalis
  • pterion (punctum Sylvii) – 4 sutures meeting point (resp. os epiptericum)

  • medially: lamina lateralis processus pterygoidei o. sphenoidalis, processus pyramidalis o. palatini
  • laterally: ramus mandibulae (foramen mandibulae)
  • cranially: fissura orbitalis inferior, fissura pterygomaxillaris
  • m. temporalis, m. pterygoideus medialis et lateralis
  • a. maxillaris + branches
  • plexus pterygoideus /venous plexus/
  • ganglion oticum /Arnoldi/, n. mandibularis (n. V/3) + branches, chorda tympani (branch of n. facialis), n. petrosus minor (branch of n. glossopharyngeus)

  • dorsally: processus pterygoideus (canalis pterygoideus) + facies maxillaris alae majoris o. sphenoidalis (foramen rotundum, canalis palatovaginalis)
  • laterally: fissura pterygomaxillaris
